Most podcasters are making money not just from their affiliate programs that they advertise but also from the advertisers that they push on their shows. Soon users of SoundCloud as their audio hosting for their podcast could have to compete for their advertisers.
SoundCloud in making their run in 2014 as being a monetized company is in the stages of implementing advertising rates in order to help make that money. It is unclear how this will impact current or future users of the site. There is talk of revenue sharing for those that have ads added to their podcast, but that has not been decided. This is still in a development stage and more news will come soon.
